REI Event: BEYOND MICROBEADS: PLASTIC POLLUTION IN THE GALLATIN
Abigail Barrows will be at REI Sept. 14th to share her work on microplastic pollution. Come hear about what the UN recently called, “an emerging issue of international concern.” More than just microbeads, microplastics have been found in the majority of water samples from around the globe, including right here in Boze man. Join us to learn just what microplastics are and what you can do about them? Barrows, whose work was recently featured in Outside Magazine, pioneered the methods for plastics recovery from coastal water samples and has beendirecting microplastic research since 2012. Abigail currently manages an independent lab in Stonington, Maine, where she analyzes water from around the world and has gathered the most geographically diverse data set on microplastic pollution to date.
