A Montana-authentic evening of delicious food paired with the savory sounds of an eclectic roster of local music artists awaits you at Desert Rose Restaurant & Catering in downtown Belgrade. Here’s a look at music coming up.
Drink Me Pretty is set to perform Friday, January 15th. The Bozeman-based band is a dedicated unit that serves up a dirty cocktail of Blues Boogie Rock and Roll. Members include Sadie Locken on rhythm guitar and vocals, Isaac Carroll on lead guitar, Ben Dufendach on box drum, and Austin Rehyer ticklin’ strings on the fiddle. Come see the band that plays it quick and gritty–no chaser. Americana band Cottonwood Line are set to perform on Saturday, January 16th. They will be playing a harmony-driven mix of original songs and traditional country, blues, gospel, and folk. Cottonwood Line is made up of Tarek Isham (guitar, harmonica, percussion and voice) and Julia Sanders (banjo, percussion and voice). They met and started playing together in New Orleans, a town overflowing with American roots music. Yeti’s Jam will be held on Thursday, January 21st. This is a weekly jam session open to all string players of various instrumental styles. Cabin Fever will take the stage on Friday, January 22nd. A variety band playing everything from country and classic rock to funk, Cabin Fever promises to rock the audience with “dance your ass off” tunes and thrive on playing for a rowdy crowd. With influences ranging from Lynyrd Skynyrd and Bonnie Raitt to Katy Perry, AC/DC, and Pat Benatar, there’s sure to be something for everyone. Featuring Amber Lorenz on lead vocals and percussion, Sheldon Scrivner on electric guitar and vocals, with Mark Sollars on drums, and Dale Tracer on bass guitar and vocals, the group challenges you to catch the fever! The Heather Lingle Band will be on hand Saturday, January 23rd. Heather is a Montana-based singer/songwriter whose debut radio release “Last Call on Love” made it into the top 40 on New Music Weekly’s National Country chart in 2012. She fronts a band comprised of a lead guitar player and upright string bassist, both of whom spent a considerable amount of time playing professionally in Nashville. Heather is the front person and rhythm guitarist. The Sugar Daddies will return to Desert Rose on Thursday, January 28th. This Montana-based trio was founded in early 2012 and consists of Richard Riesser on guitar and vocals, Oscar Dominguez on keyboards, bass and vocals, and Rick Philipp on drums and percussion. Between the three, there is a vast amount of experience, professionalism and talent with its basis in Nashville, New York, Las Vegas and San Francisco. Since its inception, the band has been successfully performing in various venues throughout Southwestern Montana. The main attribute for this success lies in the bands ability to be as versatile as it possibly can, thus enabling it to adjust their set list at any given time to adapt to any particular venue. While the gist of their material is popular rock and roll, country, oldies, R&B and blues, they also have an extensive arsenal of original songs, all of which are palatable, as well as an array of lesser-known but still great songs by both obscure and well-known artists/songwriters. Their main focus is variety, and they half-jokingly have a motto of “No request left behind.” Sharon Iltis will perform on Friday, January 29th. Singing and song writing have always been a passion of Iltis’. She has sung and/or played guitar for about 40 years in most all types of venues. Her repetoire of music includes folk, country, blues, oldies, and rock & roll. She likes to think of her music as soothing, hopeful, energizing, thought provoking and sometimes funny. Her inspirations include many great musicians/singer-songwriters like Bonnie Raitt, James Taylor, Bob Dylan, Carol King, and Joni Mitchell–just to name a few! Cottonwood Line will return to close out the month with a performance on Saturday, January 30th. Located in downtown Belgrade at 27 West Main, Desert Rose is open daily from 11am to 9pm. All music starts at 7pm. For more information about these performances, the menu, or catering services, call 924-2085. •
